Sigma Kappa

As an organization Sigma Kappa encourages our members to be involved in their campus and community. Because of this focus on involvement outside of Sigma Kappa, our sisters are able to engage with the campus and community in ways that are important to them by hosting and participating in a number of different events.

The Theta Psi Chapter holds many events every semester. One of our main events is our Ultra Violet volleyball tournament. This tournament raises money for the Sigma Kappa Foundation. We invite all members of the Greek community at Penn State to participate in a fun and competitive environment with food, games, and fun! This tournament is one of our largest fundraising efforts and its purpose is to raise, not only money,  but also awareness!

Another big event that we participate in is State College’s annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Last year, Sigma Kappa led the fundraising efforts at the State College Walk, raising close to $10,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. In fact, some of our member's were top fundraisers for the event. We hold this event very close to our hearts, many of our members have relatives or someone else close to them that have been or are currently affected by Alzheimer’s.

Every November 9th, the Theta Psi chapter celebrates Founder’s Day. The entire chapter comes together to learn more and remind ourselves of the values that Sigma Kappa was built upon as well as the history and founders of Sigma Kappa. Founder’s Day is always a great time bonding with our sisters! Our Vice President of Alumnae Relations plans related activities as well as raffles where our members are able to win prizes. During our last Founder’s Day we set up a backdrop for girls to take pictures in front of and took turns dunking snacks into a chocolate fountain.
